Humanitarian and social development initiatives in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

Who We Are

The Sovereign Military Order of Malta (SMOM) is one of the oldest institutions in Western civilization. Faithful to its centuries-old mission of service to the vulnerable and the sick, it runs medical, social, and humanitarian projects in more than 130 countries. As a subject of international law, it has diplomatic relations with more than 100 states and the European Union and holds Permanent Observer status at the United Nations. It is neutral, impartial, and apolitical.

The Order of Malta operates through two complementary channels: diplomatic and operational. It has been present in Jordan through its Embassy since 2003. Over the years, it has progressively developed humanitarian support activities through internal operational forces.

In October 2022, the NGO SMOM Jordan was formally established and registered in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan under the Ministry of Health and recognized as a local organization. All international cooperation activities initiated between 2018 and 2019 have since been consolidated within the NGO.

Affiliation

The Order of Malta Jordan NGO operates as the Jordanian branch affiliated with ACISMOM (Associazione dei Cavalieri Italiani del Sovrano Militare Ordine di Malta) in Italy.

Our Activities

The activities of the Order of Malta in Jordan are carried out by the Sovereign Order of Malta Jordan Non-Governmental Organization, focusing on humanitarian, social, and health-related initiatives.

The organization operates in coordination and with the support of the Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Jordan, with a primary focus on the health sector.

All programs comply fully with the laws and regulations of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and are exclusively dedicated to social welfare and the public interest.
